It’s the season of gift giving and sharing your gratitude with family, coworkers and friends. Shopping for gifts can be fun but wrapping can be overwhelming, especially if you do it all at once. Over the years I have simplified my wrapping techniques and designed a station that it not only cute and fun but keeps me organized. Today I will share ways to ease the clutter and stay jolly while wrapping all those presents making their debut under the tree come Christmas morning. Simply scroll through this blog post to learn more. It’s the most wonderful time of the year and with a week away from Christmas it’s time to start wrapping those gifts. It can be frustrating to organize all the gift wrap supplies – afterall, nobody wants their bows and rolls of paper to become damaged or crushed in the process. For this reason I have made a DIY gift wrapping station that is both fun and functional and costs less than $40 in supplies (wrapping supplies not included). So grab a cup of cocoa and learn how you can make your own holly jolly wrapping station.
What You Will Need To Build Your Own Gift Wrapping Station:
- Variera Plastic Bag Dispenser from Ikea
- Mini Baskets
- 1-3 zip ties
- 1-3 bamboo skewers
- Optional: magnets, embellishments, vinyl and cutting machine to add words to sides
Like most parents, I end up wrapping gifts in my bedroom or kitchen table the night before Christmas. Each year I have a plan to stay organized and on top of things, and for the most part this occurs. But there has always been a state of disorganization when it comes to the wrapping supplies. This year I came up with a solution so that I could take my station on the go and be able to wrap in any room needed and I love how it came out.
I divided my DIY Gift Wrapping Station into mini stations, separated by the tiers of the cart and baskets. I attached the wrapping paper to the side of the cart using a few zip ties and a plastic bag dispenser. I have a ton of wrapping paper but chose to simplify and stick to a few in similar colors and patterns this year. It works perfect and can hold 5 rolls of paper! The other side of the cart holds paper gift bags.
The Top Shelf Of Your Gift Wrapping Station: Miscellaneous Supplies
I have all the various fun supplies and details on the top of the cart. These include tags, embellishments, bag filler, tape, pens, scissors and mini decorative clothespins. I also have a mini radio so I can play my Christmas tunes while I wrap. I used a bamboo skewer to use as a washi tape dispenser within my basket, too.
The Middle Shelf Of Your Gift Wrapping Station: Ribbon and Bows
The middle of the cart is dedicated to ribbons and bows. I can easily take out the baskets if needed and I have organized it in a way that I can find it all (a much needed improvement from the bin of clutter they once resided in). It’s such an improvement to be able to see all of my ribbon at a glance so I know what I have on hand. Makes adding the cute ribbon to the presents a breeze! I again used bamboo skewers to organize my ribbon on a roll. I also attached some jingle bells to the cart using a magnetic container – another bonus of a metal cart!
The Bottom Shelf Of Your Gift Wrapping Station: Boxes, Gift Bags and Tissue Paper
The bottom shelf holds my boxes, bags and tissue paper. I found the cutest budget friendly assortment this season at Target. Craft paper bags work great too, and can be personalized with tags and embellishments.
I couldn’t be any more happier with how this little cart came out! The wheels make it a breeze to move from one room to another and it’s small enough to store in the shed with all my other holiday decorations or in the closet. I can also modify for year round wrapping use.
Have fun wrapping those gifts and feel free to share on Instagram and tagging me with your creations @hellocutecrafts, I would love to see your creations, too!
Happy Holidays!

I LOVE this gift wrapping station. I can’t wait to try it. How did you put the “‘‘twas the night…” onto the cart? Are they letter stickers, painted on?

Hi, I used my Cricut cutting machine to apply red vinyl to the cart.
